Nothing Else Matters
Last night we went to the J.A.I.L. Ministry Banquet. It was a lot of fun. They introduce people who work behind the scenes, recognize the ones that actually go into the jail and thank those who give out of their wallet to see this ministry continue.
They always have a key speaker who is there to encourage and inspire. Last night it was a guy that had been in and out of jail since he was twelve. He was the youngest leader of one of the worst prison gangs in Texas. God saved him using this Metallica song. I do not know this song. I was always more of an Ozzy girl, myself.
This got me thinking on a couple different things. First, God can use anything or anyone to save someone. He can use a secular heavy metal band or He can use you. He is not bound as satan is. He has an imagination and a sense of humor. Both of which He displays openly if you are willing to see them.
Secondly, I thought about what is my “Nothing else matters”? If I could have one thing and nothing else mattered what would it be? It is easy to say, “Well, of course, God is my nothing else matters”. But, is He really? Is my husband not my “nothing else matters? My kids are not my nothing else matters? How can I, as a wife who loves her husband or a mother who loves her kids not allow them to be her nothing else matters?
How can I have peace knowing that I have put them second? How can I live with myself not putting my husband and children first? How can I possibly look at myself as even a moderately good wife or mother and not have my family first?
I can have peace knowing that although they are not my nothing else matters that they are my God’s nothing else matters. I am my God’s nothing else matters. The fact that I can give my family to God knowing that He will only give me what He can bring me through brings me peace.
You want to know the best part? You are your God’s nothing else matters, too!
Awesome! I just knew (and felt) the spirit of God flowing through and out of you. And thanks for letting Him use you in such a way. Your devotions are inspirational and enlightening. God is indeed good all the time! I speak God’s continued blessing upon you and yours.
